What AccessWiser does — and what it doesn't

We'd rather be clear than impressive. Here is exactly what our widget and platform do for your website, what they can't do on their own, and how we help you get to real accessibility.

What the widget does

  • Adds a floating panel of assistive display tools your visitors can turn on for themselves — larger text, higher contrast, adjustable spacing, dyslexia-friendly and readable fonts, and reading aids.
  • Offers color-vision filters, light/dark/high-contrast themes, a reading mask and guide, an enlarged cursor, motion reduction, and an optional read-aloud (text-to-speech) tool.
  • Provides on-page translation into 50+ languages (on eligible plans).
  • Helps you find code-level accessibility issues, gives plain-language guidance on how to fix them, and lets you monitor your pages and keep a dated record of the work you've done.

What the widget does not do

This is the part most accessibility overlays leave out. No widget or automated tool — including ours — makes a website fully compliant on its own.

  • It does not rewrite your website's source code, semantics, or ARIA, and it does not by itself make your site compliant with the ADA, WCAG, Section 508, the EAA, or any other law.
  • It cannot replace content only you can author — meaningful alt text, video captions, a logical heading structure, or accessible custom components must be fixed in your site.
  • Automated scanning catches only a portion of accessibility issues (industry studies put it at roughly a third to a half); the rest require human and screen-reader testing.
  • Its visitor-facing tools are an assistive add-on. They complement — never replace — a visitor's own assistive technology, such as a screen reader.
  • It is not legal advice and does not provide protection from, or immunity to, accessibility lawsuits.

Why automated testing isn't the whole picture

Automated scans are fast and useful, but they can only detect a portion of possible accessibility barriers. Judgements like whether alt text is meaningful, whether reading order makes sense, or whether a form is genuinely usable with a screen reader need human testing. That's why we pair automated scanning with guidance, monitoring, and — where you need it — expert review, rather than presenting a scan as proof of compliance.
